I currently have a xiaomi mi box s 4k i live in a secound world country and i was wondering if i should take the fairly new chromecast with google tv over my xiaomi mi box s 4k please can someone tell me what are the ups and cons if i exchange my current box and are the wifi speeds better? because the xiaomi mi box s 4k doesnt go over 160mb even with 5g and it disconnects and reconnects and this isnt a faulty model i tried 3 others and all same issue and the wifi is fine
I have both and the only differences is that Google TV's imagem is slightly better, uses Android 10 instead of 9 and the remote is pretty neat with the option to use IR instead of Bluetooth for some tv functions.
If you don't live in "approved" area, you don't get the Google tv tabs, you get tabs similar to a regular Android tv.
It's not worth change atm.
Has anyome gotten Google Home to work with the Mi Box? I'd like to create a scene where it turns it off then I'm not in range but aparently that's near impossilbe..

Don't really notice any difference in performance or overall experience apart from Chromecast's awful interface and lack of picture in picture and USB (you need a hub to connect anything to it).
You can always connect an USB network card to the mibox s if you need more speed. Never had problems with mine losing wifi connection, make sure yours is updated and you are not using a shitty router.
If you like me live in a third world country, buying a new device for almost the same experience is a waste of money (and half a week of work expensed to make that money).
Just wait a little more until some better product is released.
Im happy with my mi box s. Recommended it to a bunch of friends over the years and no one ever had issues. Im using mine since well over 3 years.
One was released in 2016, the other in 2020. If I offered you a tech device, let's say a mobile phone from 2016 and another from 2020, do I need to specify what is better about the 2020 one? Easy: everything.
