Chromecast with Google TV + HDMI control = headache -_-

by redisdead_be

Hey people,

I'm having a lot of trouble setting the HDMI control features on my system. It was working at one point but it doesn't anymore for a while and I don't understand how to fix it.

I'm using multiple sources (Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast 4K for Stadia, Bluray player and PS5) with a Denon receiver and an LG TV.

I configured the Google remote to control the Denon and LG devices. Individually, it seems to work fine except for the input control on the Denon which seems impossible. But I can't seem to figure out how to power on and off the receiver and TV together with the Google remote.

Available options (CEC, IR, etc) always results in incomplete operation.

Anyone have any experience setting this up correctly?

I would have a similar issue and sometimes just unplugging everything for a while would reset it and I could turn on everything with the Chromecast remote again

I've got an older Samsung panel and Denon AVR with a CCwGTV. My winning combination was to enable CEC in each devices own software, but use IR on the Power for the Samsung TV. IR isn't ideal, but it's been very consistent in power management for turning the full stack on and off.

Agreed on source switching on the Denon. Try as I might, that ain't mapping on the CCwGTV source button.

Yes, right here. First make sure hmdi pass through is enabled, but what really fixed it for me was an adapter, believe it or not. I used this simple little thing, and it fixed it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y7UT6EK?%2AVersion%2A=1&%2Aentries%2A=0 BTW I have two of these cc w/ gtv and only my one tv gives me this problem as the cc is connected directly to it. Other tv is in family room and has 5.1 surround and a receiver and a bunch of other stuff hooked up, so I guess they act as the "adapter" since I don't have the same issues with it.
