Mi Box S with Logitech Z-5500

by Local_Milk9107

I'm looking for a replacement for my old Apple TV and am interested in a Mi Box.

My layout right now is image via HDMI to TV and Toslink to the sound system, logitech Z-5500. It works well and I can, for example, stream music without the TV being turned on.

I see that Mi Box seems to have problems with 5.1 sound via Toslink. My audio system lacks HDMI so this is the only option. Will everything work as with Apple TV or should I expect some problems?

I would get the Chromecast with Google TV instead of the Mii Box.

If your TV has a toslink audio output, I would use that for your speakers instead of trying to connect directly to your streaming box.

The Mi Box and Mi Box S are working correctly when sending Dolby Digital, DTS and PCM 2.0 to the mini toslink port since Android 9 arrived, it even converts Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital when using any streaming service that uses DD+

You just have to select the SPDIF option in audio settings.

That's it.
