Cheapest option to turn a non-smart TV into a Google Photos Screensaver Viewer/Alternative?

by JesusMuhammadMoses

I have a small TV I'd like to wall mount and have a constant screen saver of photos I have uploaded to Google photos, or if there is another way to have a constant photo screensaver with an other app/storage device?

I was going to buy myself another Google TV with Chromecast but I felt like I was paying too much for a glorified photo viewer.

I use a Chromecast to accomplish this. It ties directly to google photos and you can talk to it to turn on and off. The only drawback, with thousands of photos, sometimes it isn't very random. I think it pulls a set number of photos at a time, randomizes them, and plays the same ones over and over at times. When I notice this happening I reboot it and things are better.

Bugs aside, I love it, we're always saying "look at that one, remember that"? Great family conversation maker.

I'm not completely sure but I think you should be able to do this with one of those Onn walmart streaming sticks I think they cost like $15. https://www.walmart.com/ip/onn-FHD-Streaming-Device/148740640?athbdg=L1300

Onn will be best for you for this purpose.

If there is a USB port in the tv you can use a flashdrive filled with photos to see photos on the tv

Chromecast ultra 4k that is pretty much a photo slideshow as long as you have google photos album linked in home app to your google account

$15 Onn stick or just pay the extra $5 for the 4K version. It's a better device that Google TV w/CC anyway.
