Sorry I can't play Netflix on Android TV yet

by ScottLeRoc

I have a Google Nest Mini and a TCL 4 Series TV with Android OS with built-in Chromecast v1.56 when I give the voice command (to the mini) to "play <Netflix movie> from Netflix on The TV" it responds with; "Sorry I can't play Netflix on Android TV yet" Google Home detects the device, I can give voice command for other types of services like YouTube and music they play fine on the TV, just not Netflix. And get this if I use the remote voice controls to start Netflix and then use the Mini to STOP the broadcast that works! so it does communicate in some fashion. Is this a limitation of the Mini or the TCL TV or is something wrong?

Is Netflix enabled in "searchable apps" under google assistant settings?

Asking the TV's Google Assistant (using the remote) to play media you will be able to play from any app that is installed on your tv and even channels from the live channels app.

When using Google Assistant from another device to play something on your tv you can only play content from linked services (Google home app -> assistant settings -> music/video), also the services that you can link are apparently limited by country.

There is no way around it if you want the content to be played on official apps.

Alternatively you can use Kodi and install add-ons for any service you use, add the content you want to the Kodi library and use an external app (and ifttt) to integrate it with google assistant.

Google assistant lets you control any media that is currently playing on a device added to Google home, similar to how windows and others computer OS show native controls when something is playing on browsers and some audio/video players.

Make sure your Netflix account is added in your Google Home app settings.

Just wondering if you managed to fix this? I'm having the same error and can't figure it out.
