Need a volume limiter for android TV - 'Volume Limiter' sliding bars don't work

by Wild-Kitchen

I have a kid who will turn the volume up all the way if I leave the room for even a minute when she is around. Looking for an app that I can install that will prevent going to the maximum volume and startling myself, my pets and the neighbours 6 houses down. I've tried 'Volume Limiter' but it has slide bars in it's UI and my tv won't allow me to adjust the slide bars (it's a Kogan [Australia] cheap android tv).

I'd like the app as a back up because my first choice is going to be 'earning the trust to possess the remote' but I really want a back up to that because I don't want to be asked every 3 minutes to put on a different show.

EDIT: SOLUTION FOUND!

Step 1: download "Volume Limiter" apk file on your computer

Step 2: save to a USB drive

Step 3: plug said USB in to TV

Step 4: navigate to Media storage on TV and click in to USB

Step 5: install apk file

Step 6: remove USB drive and plug in a mouse (thank you u/wbradmoore!)

Step 7: navigate to Apps (Mine was settings > apps > system apps

Step 8: open Volume Limiter

Step 9: use mouse to change Volume limits on each of the audio types

Step 10: exit and open your favourite TV show to test the Volume limit you put in place.

can you plug in a USB mouse to adjust the sliders?

This. Also, the volume levels are far too simplistic -- my TV's audio piped to my Google Nest speakers goes from zero to too loud in one step -- I have to resort to muffling the speaker with a cushion at night when the kids are asleep, which is less than ideal.

Tasker script with a volume variable as a trigger and a conditional volume set as a task?

Roseysdaddy

You could just teach the kid not to do that.

a nice blunt hammer is a good solution...
