For what you pay, Mi-Box is very good. Still running a Mi-Box 3, without issues, and it works hard. My wife is a heavy streamer.
End of the day, it is very much a "you get what you pay for" situation.
Also was very happy with a Fire TV 4k stick, till my Daughter commandeered it for her own use.
My Shield TV Pro box is awesome.
my Mi Box is sitting off inna dusty room that we hardly ever use. still works great tho but compared to our other devices... it hardly gets used
I still use my first gen Mi Box's. For streaming it works just fine. I run them on 1080p tv's though so that helps a lot when it's not 4k.
I have a 2019 shield pro for my 4k LG C9. That TV deserves the best.

I think you should try and find out if either has things like dolby atmos, dolby vision, hdr10(+), netflix certification, netflix uhd certification, prime video certification, the level of widevine drm, hardware accelerated video decoding format support.
If you want to know the difference in performance, I would try run a benchmark like geekbench, antutu or 3DMark.
