Sending media wirelessly to external storage device plugged into Android TV

by TalentedKamarty

Is there a way to send media wirelessly to a Android this external storage? It keeps saying it's not writable when I try to send things to a flash drive or external hard drive. I've even tried a FTP but it can't get around the storage devices being not writable. So how do I make it writable or what device or external hard drive/flash drive could make this process easier?

Basically I'm wanting to send files from phone to TV with as much ease as it is sending files from phone to phone through bluetooth/wirelessly

Any good file explorer will do. I use Solid Explorer. I also use it with OneDrive to access my cloud storage as well.

Depends on the device. What device are you using?

Some devices (including Google's own Chromecast) do not implement Storage Access Framework. Without it, you cannot obtain write permission on external drives.

The workaround is to dedicate a drive to be permanently attached and format it as Internal Storage (also called "adopt")

(sendfiles to tv) is the app you need, download from app store to both your phone and tv and then go to settings of the app (sendfiles to tv) on yo tv change the location where you want your files written when you send via yo phone to tv or leave as default..... to write on external drive you have to go to ( sendfiles to tv)settings to choose yo external drive then navigate to android folder >sendfiles to tv folder set as the default ,so watever u send will be written on external storage(sendfiles to tv folder)

What you need is an SMB app for your phone. Once installed, you'll tell the app which folders are to be shared out. VLC for Android TV should easily let you browse the network, find your phone and play back anything shared out on it.
