MX Player - can't find the codec file (only shows folders)

by lchazl

Trying to install custom codecs in the Decoder menu. Have them all in there, zipped and unzipped, will only show folders and no files. Tried search both on USB and on the TV hard disk, in the Download folder, still nothing.

I've seen videos where it shows files (as it should), but on mine it only shows folders, so impossible to select the codec file.

Google TV - Newest versions of app and custom codec

UPDATE - SOLVED

See comment about app file permissions. Change to allow all the time, will fix it

This is a permission issue with Android 11,

go to Settings and change the MX player permission to always (now it should be, only while the app is running)

it should be under Settings -> Apps -> MX player -> Permissions and enable “Files and Media” access

I had the same issue, I followed the steps (with aio.zip) but MX player won’t show any files. Finally, this worked for me.

  1. Make sure you change permission for MX player to access the file and folder as mentioned by other post.
  2. Download every file in the ver. 144.0 that starts with “libffmpeg” into the download folder,
  3. Then restart you android device and after launch MX player it prompts you and ask if you would like to install the custom codec. Choose yes.

https://github.com/USBhost/MX_FFmpeg/releases/download/1.44.0/libffmpeg.mx.so.neon.1.44.0

After that, it started to work for me.
