Dynalink box turns itself and the TV on at random?

by mbz321

I thought this problem went away, but just this week it seems like the box wakes up my TV around 9:45 at night. WTF is going on and why?

Sickopathogenic

It's the HDMI CEC

It's annoying because I genuinely get good use out of it using Google home to turn off the TV

But even more annoyingly , Google home can't turn it on, despite it being connected to the mains .

This is a real PITA with my setup- a circa-2015 Samsung 55" TV, a DVDO (video switcher) with the output connected to HDMI4 on the TV and the Dynalink box connected to the HDMI1 input on the DVDO. I can turn the Dynalink off, the DVDO off, and the TV off- for maybe 15 seconds. Then the Dynalink automagically turns on, somehow sends a signal THRU the DVDO (doesn't matter which input the DVDO output is set to or whether it's even powered up), and turns on the TV.

Fortunately, I can on the Samsung TV UNIVERSALLY (all 4 HDMI inputs) turn HDMI-CEC on or off. Turning HDMI-CEC off solves the problem for my Dynalink, but makes it..err..."less convenient" when I use my Firestick 4k. When I press the HOME button on the Firestick, it will go to that HDMI input on the TV if HDMI-CEC is turned on, otherwise not (and I need to use the TV remote to select the SOURCE).

In other words, the Dynalink is an aggressive little $h1tbird that really wants you to watch it.

It has been removed from my system.
