[RESOLVED: switching to 5Ghz gives good results almost all the time. There are moments when, like right this minute, one service doesn't work while others do; I assume that's par for the course in the present state of streaming.]
[EDIT: switching from 2.4 to 5Ghz makes immediate huge difference in consistency of connection, now to see how well it works at peak evening times. Using Analiti wifi test app - different thread - gives a better picture than basic RedMango speedtest app of where to look for possible causes.]
We have US Internet fiber to home and good wifi signal. Macbook almost always tests 60+Mbps both down- and upload. New Hisense U6G Android TV normally tests anemic - much much worse than Macbook with low speeds, high ping delay and jitter.
Is it foolish to expect this new Android TV to stream well most of the time?
Should I simply use a Roku or some alternative streaming device and ignore the TV's internet connection?
(As long as Roku supports Apple TV+ and Youtube and Prime, almost all my streaming needs will be covered.)
Calm down for a minute... Take a breath..
Are you using 5Ghz wifi on the TV?
What router?
Where is the router in relation to the TV?
Can you use LAN cable?
I have this exact TV and stream 4k for plex or Netflix often *Using 5Ghz WiFi on an Asus 68U router situated 3m in the same room as TV
WiFi Signal is not everything if the signal and network is clustered
