'Wifi not connected' on my Android TV

by Bearded_Hawk

Hi all,

I recently bought an Acer Android TV. It's running Android 9. It's pretty awesome and the experience is smooth. I have been facing one issue though.

Sometimes I get a notification - 'Wifi not connected' even though the TV is connected to wifi network, and the signal strength is showing as Good. I have checked that this happens regardless of the number of devices connected to the router. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting to the wifi. Sometimes it works but other times it doesn't.

This is pretty frustrating as the stream gets paused due to apparent 'No connection' even though the TV is connected to the wifi network and the internet connection is not down.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? 👀👀

I would appreciate any leads on this issue.

Peace ✌️

EDIT 01: I checked the date and time and they are synced with my network. They are correct so probably that's not the issue in my case. Otherwise, it's a good thing to check if the date is off as that might be the cause of this issue.

Check to see if there are any firmware updates for the TV, my Sony Bravia went through that until a fix was made in the firmware.

Have you tried rebooting the Modem/Router?

Try to connect via LAN, and then save the wifi network.

I have had another strange issue where the time setting changes to some random incorrect time. When it happens, I also see an issue with WiFi not connected, or more specifically that it's not connected to the Internet. When I check the WiFi, it is indeed connected but the TV isn't seeing that it's connected. Took me forever to find this correlation. One time, I spent several days trying to get the connection back on the TV. Disconnecting/reconnecting didn't help or any other tricks I found along the way. What made it stranger is that the Amazon Fire box connected to the TV was working fine and knew it had a connection. Then noticed the time said 3:00am when it was actually 5:00pm. Reset the time and voila!! Connection was back. Now when I get a no connection error, I look at the time and sure enough, something has caused it to change to the wrong time. Resetting the time fixes it every time.
