OP, this is the new Android TV Launcher - and I don’t think the ad banner can be turned off; but if it can that’s the terms you would Google for.
You can try going to the Play Store and installing another Launcher, I’d recommend ATV Launcher . It will look a little different, but it should be ad free.

Just use a custom launcher

TeutonJon78

The only still supported custom launchers are Sideload Channel Launcher 3 and FLauncher from the Play Store. These are more full featured launchers with lots of customization.

And another one from github you have to sidoad. Called Leanback on Fire -- https://github.com/tsynik/LeanbackLauncher . It's an updated version of the old basic Android TV launcher.

If the MI stick is still using Android TV 9, ATV Launcher Pro still works but it gets more bugs on 10+ (specifically, wallpaper support breaks).

That's the new Google TV UI. The switch was done server side and getting rid of it is... difficult.

The answer is you are fucked.

Google is a piece of shit and they wanna force their garbage ads on you.

Does anyone else use the "Apps only" mode in the settings?

I use it for some time now. It shows only the apps you have installed and nothing else. I don't feel like I'm missing anything

OP, can i ask where u from?

I don’t think you can rollback an update. It looks nice though.

I feel you. I also don't like the ads in the App Store in my iPhone, but can't get rid of them.

StudioKentin

Just downgrade the launcher.

http://prntscr.com/22rkg7t I ended up buying a launcher (Top TV Launcher 2) and remapping the home button on the controller (using Button Mapper) so it opens the launcher instead of going to that horrible home screen. Works great, and I get the simple look that I wanted. Thanks guys.

There's a setting to have it only show apps, at least on ccwgtv but it's the same ui so should be there for you

My TV did this update last night.

for everyone saying its difficult... Have you tried to uninstall any update to the Home app. and disable updates on the playstore... doing this will bring back the default launcher that your firmware had (possibly one without the ability to call home and "upgrade" to this).

Just go to your android tv settings > App > all Apps > Android TV home > uninstall Updates. Then Playstore > on playstore settings disable autoupdates.

Edit: i'm on mobile and away from any TV, can't check exact steps but that should make it.
