I can see similar questions have been asked but it's been nearly a year, so going to risk asking again.
I have a budget T65 Android TV box. It *does* have a miracast app ("Miracast Receiver") which shipped with the device. About 90% of the time, my windows 10 laptop fails to connect, though I have had better success with Android devices (box has a separate Chromecast function, so I can tell when which protocol is in use).
I would like to replace the native app with a better one, but I have read multiple warnings that this would require not only root but other under-the-hood changes that are apparently needed since Android 7, at which time some sort of additional security was added to Miracast. The installed Miracast Receiver is listed as a System App. Anyone have good suggestions where to go look for a fairly comphrehensive how-to? I'm pretty savvy but have not really delved into Android internals before.
Yeah I tried Airscreen. I think that was where I first found out about Miracast restrictions, because it would not allow me to enable Miracast in the app.
