Should bluetooth headphones reconnect automatically after the initial pairing on google tv?

I have a Sony KD-43X89J to which I paired Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. I was wondering if everytime I want to reconnect them, I need to go in settings -> bluetooth -> connect. Or if they should, once turned on, automatically connect to the tv. I'm pretty sure I once turned on both my tv and my headphones (no idea in which order or if it matters) and the headphones connected to the tv automatically without me needing to go into settings.

They do on my Hisense H8G and the CCwGTV

They usually connect automatically. However, sometimes they won't, who knows why, and you'll have to go to the accesories menu and click "connect".

I've had this experience with the Chromecast w/ Google TV and both the Xbox Bluetooth controller and a Bluetooth headset.

Of course, if you use them in more than one device then you'll probably have to go to the menu each time unless the headsets are multipoint.
