onn. Android TV: Choppy Video

by Yonidass

Just bought the onn. Android TV box. Watching on a 1080p TV.

I'm noticing what seems to be a low framerate for some streaming channels, mostly on Youtube TV and some live TV streams from Pluto TV so far.

Video looks a little choppy. Watchable, but not as smooth as my Google Chromecast running on same TV.

It's especially noticeable for sports, and old movie channels, for some reason.

However, Netflix, Prime Video, Tubi, and some HD content on Youtube looks fine so far, including action scenes with lots of motion.

So it seems to depend on the quality of the stream to create this effect.

I've changed the display settings to 1080p 24hz (instead of Auto), but it didn't help.

Anybody else seen something like this?

FIXED

I toggled back the display resolution from 1080p-24Hz to Auto and then got a message saying it was going to 1080p-30Hz (correct for my TV). Now things look right.

So for some reason the Auto setting wasn't correctly detecting the TV's resolution out of the box.

I had already toggled back and forth but never got the message it was going to 1080p-30Hz. The only thing I did differently was I used the Settings button on the remote while watching YoutubeTV, instead of closing the app first. Not sure is that made any difference but it's working now.

(And yes I'm using the onn. box, not stick)

That is why for android, one must buy CCWGTV, and if you have enough money buy Nvidia Sheild
