I've got a Sony TV with Android TV. No issues with it since 2017.
I'm now getting an "Account action required" notification, which says that I have been signed out of my Google account and I need to sign back in.
When I try to sign in, the screen usually goes black before I finish entering my password (typing a password using a remote is a pain!).
I've tried removing my Google account from the TV, but it doesn't work (it still remembers the account).
I've tried doing a factory reset through the menu, but it doesn't work. It seems like the TV does a normal reset instead of a factory reset.
I've tried following instructions for doing a physical factory reset rather than through the menu (the instructions I've found are: (1) Unplug TV; (2) Press and hold three buttons on the TV - volume up, power, volume down; (3) Plug in TV and continue holding the three buttons), but nothing happens.
It seems like whatever I do, I will get a black screen within about a minute of turning the TV on. However, when I get the black screen, the TV is not frozen. Buttons such as 'Discover' and volume work, and I can hold the power button down to get the reset option.
Sometimes on the black screen I will get the spinning wheel popping up every now and then, and other times I will get the "Account action required" message popping up in the top-right corner every now and then.
Anyone familiar with this and know how to fix it?
I also need an answer. Help!!
