Onn TV 4K Box

by crazymick

So.. weird problem and even weirder solution.

I have the Onn 4k Box on my TV downstairs. I have it wired up to ethernet and it has been fantastic for a little $20 box. Anywho... turn the TV on today for background noise as I work. No sound.

  • Check the sound bar and it's on.
  • Try the Xbox and sound works. Weird.
  • Reboot the Onn. Nothing.
  • Unplug and plug back in. Nothing.
  • Check the HDMI cables. Nothing.
  • Unplug/Plug TV. Nothing.
  • Unplug/Plug the Soundbar. Nothing
  • At this point, starting to think the little guy has died. Start poking around in the settings, Sounds? Nope.
  • For some reason I decided to check the HDMI CEC settings. Looks ok, but what the heck, I'll toggle the CEC Switch off then back on. Boom. Sound works. Crazy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Check for updates. Everyone seems to have no issues with latest update

TY so much for this. I thought I was going nuts. I take care of about 10 of these, and they started calling me that they had no sound. This fixed every box!

Thank you! This fixed my problem!

Thanks, that was a very clutch fix, so I don't have to keep factory resetting my box. Very good work. I probably wouldn't have figured that out.

Wow I been messing with this for a week... but also refusing factory reset thank you! This worked perfectly!

THANK YOU!!!

How do you get ethernet to the box? Does a simple usb lan port adapter work if I use an "on the go" cable? I also had a problem with the power cord not always working on my onn box. I replaced it with an extra phone charger I had, and it's been good since.

I've had my Onn. 4k box since launch, was definitely buggy at first but works like a charm now, never crashes at all.

if you are using it to control your tv volume try removing the tv from the remote in the remote options. reboot the box. turn up the volume for android to around 75-80% (should be a white ish box with a music note there) then re add the tv. this will fix most of the low or no audio issues people are having usually after this audio works normally. if not do a full reset on the box

I had the exact same problem, and once in a while I still do. Open your system apps, look for PRECISE VOLUME, open it, turn the 0 up to 100 close the app. done.

That onn box is one of most the bug riddled products I ever owned. I had problems day one and returned it. Sad to see that they really haven't supported it at all, but it's Walmart, so I'm not surprised.
