Is there any way of running the Google TV Launcher in apps-only mode on Android TV?

by SKarajic

I recently set up the Google TV Launcher (LauncherX) with my Android TV, and i've been wanting to run the launcher in apps-only mode. However, the settings are still the original Android TV setting, having no toggle option in order to enable apps only mode.

I know my way around ADB, so even just knowing if there is any key to set through adb shell config would be enough for me. I haven't been able to find any way of enabling apps-only mode. Is there a chance anyone knows how to turn it on in any way, shape or form?

On Chromecast with Google TV, there is an option in Settings to enable apps-only mode. I assume it would be in a graphical settings menu too for you

I assume you are just experimenting but why bother with that instead of running a different launcher?

Out of curiosity, which version did you install? Been trying to update to latest one but I'm still stuck with the December 2020.

Out of curiosity, why do you like the Google TV launcher better than the stock Android TV launcher? I sold my one CCwGTV and only have Walmart Onn 4K Android TV pucks at home now. In large part because I liked the latest Android TV launcher better than the Google TV one. It's a tad more customizable.
