Ethernet is not connected. While it is connected

by vindytreendrian

So, I have a weird problem. It happened all of sudden.

My android tv popped message "ethernet not connected" so I can't use my internet in my android tv. I checked all the devices its all fine (restart router, check and change the cable, check the router port availability, and I even tried to change both DHCP and static connection, etc) all the hardware is fine but still I can't use internet and popped "ethernet is not connected". I also did hard reboot the tv but still no luck.

The thing is when I unplug the ethernet cable and tried to use WIFI connection its all normal I can use the internet in my android tv. But, I need to use LAN cable since I sometime need to use direct movie sharing with my PC and ofc stable speed with cable.

Any idea how to fix it? I checked on yt that I need to change date and time but... no luck either. All from the internet method I already tried.

Its funny since its all of sudden, yesterday its still normal and I only use Netflix yesterday.

*Update: Thanks to all who replied my issue, I still don’t know what the cause of my issue but sadly factory reset solved my problem and now I need to download bunch of apps again haha :((

what device?

Not sure it's axactly the same issue, but this has been happening on my Philips Android TV for some time now. Probably less than once per 2 weeks.

Fully restarting the TV fixes it for me, quite sure it isn't a problem with my network. Nothing I've tried has fixed it.

This has been happening to me recently but when I remove the ethernet cable and plug it back in it detects it again immediately. For reference I have a Sony Bravia.

Glad you were able to fix it! This happened to my Sony Bravia after an electrical storm. The ports on my TV and Nvidia Shield both got zapped.

It happens to me whenever my VPN is connected...

I got the same message on my Sony a couple of days ago, and after I did just about everything you tried, I did a restart (not a factory reset) by holding down the power button for a few seconds to get the option. That fixed it.

Yeah I have the same issue with Android tv because it is a huge pile of shit. Hard reboot does it for me, most of the time.

Same issue here. What works for me is unplugging it's power waiting ten seconds, and plugging it back in. It's very frustrating. In my case it is often caused by/when using Plex. Not sure why though.

My Sony Bravia pops up the “Ethernet is not connected” message occasionally while it is connected and works just fine. I’ve tried restarting a couple times but it’s still doing it. Will try unplugging for a couple mins. This started after we lost power for a couple hours while the TV was on.

Try different data cable.

Try a different point on modem.

I've had modems with dead data outlets before - possibly one of them has died.
