>8GB storage?

Is there a device that has more storage? Chromecast or onn doesn’t have sd card expandable storage, and not sure if OS even support offloading or adoptable storage like mobile android

What do ppl do for more storage?

If you buy a dongle or stick, then an OTG adapter or Usb-Hub will be needed to expand the internal storage. Exception is the TiVo Stream4K which has extra USB-C port to expand the storage without a Hub.

Better to buy a Box that has USB and Micro SDcard ports already, so you just add the storage media.

I used to have a USB hard drive attached to my Shield. A few years ago, I upgraded to a Synology NAS and connect to it over my home network. I store all my media there.

The only device that has more than 8 GB storage is the NVIDIA Shield TV.

You can use a USB-C hub with CCwGTV & Micro-USB hub with onn to add expandable storage
