Has to be done by the TV maker.
Like others have said, unless your device/TV's manufacturer put out an update, it is REALLY difficult to get an update.
Some manufacturers don't put in an OTA/auto-update feature. You need to get the update from their website and put it on a USB for the TV to update with. It is worthwhile (usually) to check at least.
Beyond that, some devices have a way to unlock the bootloader, and if you are familiar with linux/android kernel dev and the Android Main OS system you can develop and compile an OS Image ( a "ROM" if you will) that you can sideload/flash to the device. This is really only for highly experienced people, or people willing to brick their device in the name of research. If you are somewhat technically inclined (which this posts indicates possibly not), you might find your device on XDA forums, and see if there is an active method of unlocking the bootloader and a third party ROM to flash. Once again, only pursue this if you willing to brick the device.
Beyond that, stop using the onboard AndroidTV OS and get a third-party device to plug into an HDMI port. A device like a ChromeCast w/ GoogleTV or ONN GTV, or a XiaoMi MiTV box (or ShieldTV if you wanna get fancy/expensive).
Ask the CEO of the company for a favor.
Hang a Chromecast with Google TV on the back.
