The lazy in me hates opening the app and clicking the remote to control the tv. Theres times when I need to do a quick volume adjustment, I'll have to go to the app and reconnect to the specific tv I want to control. Takes sometimes half a minute to do something that was quick previously.
Anyone else have this problem?
Anything is going to take longer than using the actual remote. Just use the normal remote?

No idea what Google was thinking with any of these latest "updates".
When I have to go back into the app for a volume adjustment, even if it's only a few minutes later, it sometimes reconnects instantly, but more than half the time it goes back to Select a Device and it spins on Available Devices for a minute or longer before my device pops up. Google TV dongle + Pixel 4XL
On your viewing device go to Google Play and turn off auto update. Then "uninstall" the remote app to roll back the recent update. After that you should be able to use the remote app you used previously.
Is there any alternative ?
The not having a default device is annoying. The lack of play pause default button sucks.
My issue is only 1 of my devices show up in the new remote app and the other 3 don't. It's annoying. I never had this issue with he old remote.
The remote is also available in your phone's quick settings, if that helps.
