Any effective place for AndroidTV feedback? How Android pushed me to Apple TV

by KublaKahhhn

I have a Sony A9G and I’m told by r/Bravia moderators that Sony has no control over AndroidTV pushing ads (although I’m not totally convinced). It really pisses me off I can spend thousands on a TV and must be served ads I don’t want, to the point where I may not buy my favorite TV brand next time. I’ve gone to using my Apple TV 4K recently, after a year of being annoyed by those ads.

Is there a feedback page or other place where complaints have the most likelihood of convincing Android they need to let customers opt out? I’d rather be using just the TV without a streaming box.

Sadly they don't care at all unless it hits profits.

All I see on apple tv is ads for shows on streaming services that I don't have. Potato potato.

If you had just said Sony's version of Android tv is terrible I would have agreed with you as solid justification by itself. I switched from a sony to a shield and am quite happy. That apple tv interfaced is so polished though, I do appreciate the attention to user flow that is unrivaled... They just hide the ads better.

If they want to use Android TV they have no choice. They could go with their own OS I suppose. TV's shouldn't be bought for the Smart TV OS in the first place. You are perfectly fine using an Apple TV on it. Probably the best of both worlds for you. Sony TV quality and Apples ad free smart interface. The ad banner ship has sailed. Google probably has a Twitter feed you could complain on.

Not sure what ads are you referring to, since you say that it’s over a year. The new Android/Google Tv interface (of which Sony has no control) is less then a year old. You can’t avoid them and any Android/Google TV will have them (including the Shield). The Sony ads on the contrary can be easily disabled (just remove the channel.

I use a ATV but the main reasons are not to avoid the ads: it’s the speed, reliability and frequent updates that make the difference (the only update that my Sony Android received was to add the Google ads.. lol)
