Thanks in advance for any advice.
I have a Sound Sphere WiSA 5.1 sound system connected to my Sony A90J.
When using streaming services like Netflix, I get proper 5.1 / Atmos sound, and I get a 5.1 signal when playing video files off of my laptop (I've used both Dolby test video and regular content).
However when trying to play the same files from an App (VLC, MX Player, Kodi) the audio only ever gets put through as 2 channels.
I've tried changing a bunch of setting, but am completely lost as to whether this is just not doable, is a TV issue, and app issue, or a Sound Sphere issue.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: After resetting everything a bunch of times and toggling a million sound setting, enabling AC3 transcoding in Kodi seems to mostly be working. (I am fairly certain I tried this, but I may also just be an idiot. Will update if I find out more.)
Enable 'audio passthrough' in the settings of each of the apps.
