I have a Philips 50pfl5604 and it has android 9. Do I need to worry about updating android? when I check for updates it says I am up to date, but like my phone is android 11. Do TVs lag behind on updates? I have been in circles online and never found an answer. Thanks for your help. Stay safe and well.
Most Android TV devices are still on ATV 9. A few are in ATV 10 (only like 3, and not the Shield which is still at 9). Only one is on ATV 11 and it's a developer device.
ATV 10 didn't really add anything of note for TVs, so it was skipped. Simukar for ATV 11 (although it added stuff for Bluetooth latency for this like streaming gaming).
ATV 12 is the first big release since 9 that is important. It adds 4k UI, variable refresh rate support, and some other things.
