Hello, so I have this new TCL 55C715 which supports all HDR signals. I am using MX Player Pro but can't check which HDR it's playing. I have Godzilla vs Kong which is HDR, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision but don't know what HDR signal my TV is playing. Can someone help me ?

Your TV is not even capable of high brightness to differentiate HDR and SDR.

heybart

Usually the TV itself will tell you what mode it is running in. I don't have a TCL so I don't know how it does it. Bring up the info banner or the system menu somehow and see what you get

BTW unless you have your TV running in HDR at all time, it should be somewhat obvious when hdr has kicked in

I have the same TV, so here are my thoughts on it.

  • Download the movie on your laptop/desktop and use plex to stream the movie on your tv. Works well if you have fast internetm MX player does not give your the logo of HDR or vision but VLC does. But better use Plex.
  • Yes, 600nits is good to have for HDR content but ill say this. This TV is really good for the price. I watched same movie in 4K SDR and HDR in a dark room and there is an obvious difference. If you need a perfect picture, sure spend 3 times the money and get a sony. But this is really good for the money.
