Have had the R646 for about a week and change now. Here's my take:
If 2.1 hdmi is not important...stick with the Roku OS. The OS is buggy to the point I am considering returning the TV.
Picture is great when it works, which is 50/50.

Only had it for a day, but TV is a no go for me at the moment. The fact that I can't stream any 4K content is a major issue for a 4K TV. If it was strictly a problem with the built in OS I would consider giving it time. But when trying it with a CCwGTV dongle I still had some video and audio issues. The issues were not as bad, but the fact that they are still there when bypassing the built in OS is much more concerning to me. (I do agree though, the video quality is great when I can get it to work).
How’s the motion handling ?
Has the recent software update fix most of the problem you were having?
