Android TV that is OTA friendly

by nfigot

Hello all,

Looking for suggestions in the $700-1k ish range for an Android based TV. One super important feature is the tuner portion has to support a # pad random access to the tuner. For instance I watch OTA channels 39.1 and 10.1 and I want to be able to switch between them and other channels by pressing #ers on the remote versus having to scroll through a list of channels (like ROKU TVs do which makes them a no go).

I've been told the Sony X90J can do this but darned if I can find any proof via all the Youtube and website reviews of this TV I could find. I know this set is above 1k atm but darned if it doesn't get great reviews so I'd consider going a bit above budge for it). Can any owners of this TV confirm this or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Neil

You should be good. I think you can even add a drive for dvr

Hisense H8G, I have had this TV for the last year and it can do direct entry for channels and is a fine Android TV.

heybart

I mean just about any TV with a built in tuner can do this? unless you got one with a remote with no numeric pad.

I know this is an AndroidTV group so there is going to be some bias….but I’m an OTA user with both high(er) end Sony 9 series Android and low end Black Friday special 4 series TCL Roku TV’s. Naturally the Sony has a better picture and all. Streaming apps are pretty much a toss up as they work well on both, but for the OTA aspect, I like my Roku tv’s MUCH better. I like the design of the guide better, it’s info is much more accurate and complete, and navigating the guide is much quicker.
