Xi box.
Huh. I always thought Mi was just an abbreviation of the company’s name, as it’s the last two letters in Xiaomi.
Simply Xiaomi Box?
Pff, it's like Microsoft suddenly deciding to ditch the Xbox brand to "avoid confusion". The damned associations been made already, y'all are just gonna cause confusion doing this!
Chinese Backdoors?
It's gonna be interesting to see what they'll name the boxes & sticks (and other smart home devices) in the future. "Xioami Box"/ "Xiaomi TV Stick" won't be catchy, but it's not impossible.
Not sure about the "avoid confusion" part though. First of all, everyone already (most probably) knows that "Mi" brand is from Xiaomi. And secondly , as someone from South Asia, I'm well aware of how much Xiaomi loves to confuse customers with their branding.
Never seen a single advertisement for Xiaomi or any Chinese brand so have no clue how to pronounce them, I just thought MI was an abbreviation for English markets
YR Box as in Your Box
It seems pretty obvious. If it was a Mi box, now it will just be a box. That shoudn't be confusing for customers.
There is the official statement from Xiaomi saying that they will be called… “Xiaomi”
