I just bought a Xiaomi TV Stick - waiting for shipping - and I was wondering what I have to do when turning off the TV..
Can I power down the stick or put it to sleep?

You can do both.
If you turned on HDMI-CEC in the settings of the stick, it will be put to sleep whenever you turned off the TV.
To power it down, you have to unplug it.
