Is there an Episode Tracker App for Android TV out there?

by Brummiesteven

Hey All.

I switched to Android TV from an Apple TV. While largely I don't regret it (I was exiting the Apple Ecosystem anyway) I miss the Episode Tracking features of the Apple TV App.

Google Tv on the Chromecast seems to have a similar feature but it's not very good, doesn't show as much content and I've found it at times to be a few episodes out of date.

So I'm looking for:

- An app that will aggregate content from other sources, Netflix, Disney + etc (A plus if it can do Plex)

- Track all the TV I'm watching, show me it in an interface and let me jump back into it (It doesn't need to play the content, jumping off to another app is fine)

- Alert me when there's a new episode available of something I've been watching.

Does a 3rd party app like this exist on Android TV? If it helps, I'm currently using the Chromecast w/ Google TV but plan on buying a NVIDIA Shield Pro soon.

You might like Syncler (Available on Play store on Android TV and phones).

It's a free tracking app for both Android TV and phone devices (completely separate UI for TV and phone devices). But it's Android TV UI is where it shines. It has complete integration with Android TV home channels (we know that's ruined by Google now).

Here's a quick preview of the new UI introduced in my latest beta.

You will need a Trakt account (free) to track your episodes and movies. You can also track Anime using MAL or Simkl (beta version).

You can integrate your own collection of sources and play content in the app itself like Plex but without needing a server.

It comes with many customization options such different themes, thumbnail options, multiple users like Netflix etc.

A quick demo can be found on our official website (Please find it on google, I don't know if I'm allowed to add link here)

Full disclosure: I am the developer of this app

But more importantly, if you do checkout the app, please let me know your feedback, I'm always listening to what users like and want.

I like Reelgood. It can launch other apps and does a great job of notifying me of a new episode or the availability of a movie.

Ive been using TV Time app for over a year and track all my shows and movies. Its crazy to see how much time you spend watching tv though lol I'm at 9 months and watched 8.1k episodes 🤦

There’s JustWatch

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.justwatch.justwatch&hl=it&gl=US

It tracks new movies on the services and has a watchlist

But I didn’t find it to have tracking

For clarity, I probably didn't explain well, I'm looking for a better version of the existing "Play Next" function on the new interface.

It shows all the shows and movies you've just watched or are halfway through, you can jump to them without surfing through individual apps.

That's my main aim, aggregating content isn't... Content aggregation just means you can "play next" from multiple sources for me.

Yeah it sucks that it's not available everywhere (Reelgood)

There's Trackt which it's not an app but a service that integrates into existing apps and there's Justwatch which is an standalone app that could also help to track your viewing history from other apps.

Google assistant will show you a details page of a series and the availability on installed apps. ( https://emby.media/community/uploads/inline/283246/5c4e02bc09570_5c4ccc71df46a_googlesearch1.png )

The rest, hopefully with the new Live TV tab on Google TV, this would be more deeply integrated in future versions.
