I've got a Sony Bravia HDR 4k tv with Google TV, which should be able to do everything Android tv does.
When playing HDR content on Netflix, it shows a HDR icon in my settings, and gives me more settings because the content is also Dolby Vision.
I'm guessing prime video on Android tv doesn't support Dolby Vision because it's not mentioned anywhere. But even on HDR content (HDR10 I guess?) I don't think HDR is working.
There's no HDR icon in the picture settings, and it's clearly much less bright and less contrast in the blacks etc. If I open the same movie in a different way, it does show the icon in settings and looks so much better.
How can I get HDR content working on prime? It does show the icon on the actual movie, just not in the tv settings.
Thanks!
Update:
Called Prime video support.
They knew about the problem, they've passed it along to the devs, but they had already done that many times before, the problem is know.
She said it might have to do with covid, they put the quality a bit lower because of many people streaming at the same time.
She also said it might not have to do with covid at all.
Basically she would pass it along. Fix eta: unknown. Asked if I could contact the devs, nope.
Great! :( back to Netlix for me.
Has anyone faced issue on Disney Plus as well. Android 11 4k tv only plays 1080p. Prime Video only plays non HDR and some UHD content.
