mi 4k laser projector vs. Netflix

by gjgigol

I just bought the Xiaomi mi 4k to replace my tv, and I was surprised the built-in android TV doesn't work with Netflix (impossible to install it from Google Play).

I was looking for solutions, and found an old post somewhere that suggested maybe an older Netflix APK could work.
I installed one of my most-often used Android apps, the X-plore file manager and installed the obsolete Netflix APK. It didn't work. And then I couldn't even uninstall it in a normal way, because it wasn't shown on the list of apps.

But it turns out X-plore's App manager feature (which you need to first enable for any of the two panels) was not only able to find my unsuccessful installation of the old Netflix app, but also found an existing built-in Netflix app in the System group.
Netflix was actually there, not just disabled, but also hidden (which is probably the reason why I couldn't see my installed version in the app list before).
X-plore let me enable the built-in Netflix app and hey presto! It works! :-D

Wow thanks for sharing the info. I don't own one but that's useful.

Many thanks for sharing this. Worked like a charm on MI Projector. Just got it today and was setting up all the streaming apps.

Virtual Hi-five to you kind sir.

Dude, THANK YOU!! My goodness it is such a simple solution to such an annoying problem but you have to know what to look for.

I just switched from the 1080p projector to the 4K version (international) and was so frustrated that Netflix was seemingly unavailable. But Reddit to the rescue!

I know this is an old post but much thanks!

Many thanks my good sir!

Prob not the best solution as you're looking to "work with what you have" in the internal OS, but it just seems too much of a headache fighting the whole native platform. You can grab a cheap android box (Walmart's ONN under $30) and remove all the limitations of the OS and just the project for what it is...as a "display device"

Hello,

Thank you very much for your help with X-plore, I have Enable and unhidden the app. I now see the app button, but each time I want to launch it, after the "Netflix" letters shows in red the following error message appear : "Netflix has encountered an error. Code : ui-800-3 (307006) and never access to the app content.

I restarted the xiaomi projector, my internet connexion, when I follow the step to check Netflix connection they say everything is normal and that the network works.

Do you know how to fix it please? I am based in Hong Kong, can it be linked?

Thank you very much.

Which version of Netflix is it? I want to download that version apk manually

Hey, nice guide. i used it on my previous mi projector and it work smoothly, but due to a problem with the linse in the first one i got. i had to return it and got a new mi projector.

Now i get the ui-800-3 on this new projector. :(

no one found a fix ?

Probably would have been easier to plug in a streaming stick/box as 80% of the menu remains Chinese even when changed to English.

If it was a certified android os then the built in Android TV WOULD work with Netflix and he would have no problem installing it from the “Certified” Google Play store.. NON of the Xiaomi range run on “Certified” Android Tv and instead run on a “heavily modified” MIUI version.. You need to get a grip.
