display Calendar, to-do's, notes etc on the Standby Screen?

by 404-nut-found

Hey,

I have the new Chromecast with Google TV here.

I'm wondering if there's a way that I could add things like Calendar events (most important), To-Do's, Notes, etc on the Standby Screen (you know, where it shows the clock and weather with wallpapers and stuff)?

Maybe sorta like a "At a Glance" widget thingy?

Or some other alternative?

It would be super helpful for me since I have my TV screen in my room turned on all day, and since I have ADHD I constantly forget things like appointments or to-do's, so having these things constantly displayed in front of me would really help with the "out of sight, out of mind" thing people like me suffer from.

I have this same question. I bought a Sony Bravia TV and had assumed it would be straightforward to find an app that would display my Google Calendar, and I haven't found anything that works right. The closest I've got is Mango Display and it's a trainwreck of a UI and almost completely unusable (errors non-stop). I'll keep looking but definitely would love some advice on this!

Edit: I'm now exploring the idea of using Dakboard in combination with "Dashboard Screen Saver". The latter is just an app ($2.69) which will use Dakboard (or other sites) as the Scrensaver on the TV.

Ok - I'm replying here again...I got something working perfectly for what I trying to do. Maybe this will help you too.

I have a Sony Bravia TV (Android TV) - I wanted to get Calednar, Notes, Time, Weather...and custom photos on my display. This is in my Kitchen and I wanted it as a central sort of smart display for the whole family. And I'm really happy to say I got something really nice working.

I used a Free Account on Dakboard . This is a site that lets you make a custom dashboard, and I was able to link my Google Photos and Google Calendar (other integrations available I believe if you're using something else). I fine tuned the dashboard from my PC.

Dakboard provides you a private URL to get to your dashboard from any web browser.

Then I bought and installed this app ($2.90 with tax) called Dashboard Screen Saver. This app simply let's you override the Screen Saver of the Android TV with any web page via URL. I configured this app to point to my Dakboard private URL -- and voila!

Now when my TV goes into screen saver mode (or you can click Start Now to launch the screen saver), I see my customized Dakboard with my Google Photos, notes, calendar, and can even put a custom message up there. Dakboard premium has a bunch of other customizations and features, but for now the free version is doing everything I need!

Hope this helps you too, happy to answer any questions!

splash-tiles.com (SplashTiles app on the various stores)

Create your own custom screen, display via schedule, remote control, or just the gui selection. Can also use the screens you designed as a screen saver (all built into the same app)

Does pop up notifications too if that is your thing.
