Youtube multiple profiles?

by Sheshirdzhija

Is there a way to easily switch profiles on Youtube on android TV?

It is mind boggling to me that this is not a thing still. Netflix has a very fast and neat solution, just add profiles under the same account, and then switch via choosing a profile icon.

But on Youtube, if I don't want my algorithms being polluted by 2-year old content, and my wife, I have to sign out and sign in. Plus, there is no smart login or whatever it's called, I have to type very complicated credentials and emails EVERY TIME, even though the accounts are added to Android TV main account control.

Alternatively, is there a better Youtube app that has this solved better?

Just log out and log back in with the different account. The app will remember all added accounts. It's not as easy as a switch account button but it's doable.

I've got mine setup with my account and my daughter's account, I can simply switch between the two (no signing in every time needed)

I think I just went into atv settings and added another Google account.

Been looking for this too. I've used the switch between account by logging out and logging in using different account on my Shield. But just recently I setup the Family Link thing to monitor my daughter's phone usage and now I can't log her in at all smh. No problem on the Fire TV version of the youtube app - it's way better over there.

On my LG tv there's a profile switcher whenever I open the yt app. I only see it on the LG, (obviously) not any google tv or android tv devices. Casting is also better on the LG too.

being polluted by 2-year old content

We just use YouTube Kids for our 6 and 4 year old. Save us a ton of trouble and you can basically let it autoplay videos since the content is all age appropriate.

Other than that profiles are coming to Android TV as a whole, but I haven't heard of anything YouTube specific.

Also looking for this on the shield as it looks like I can only have one account. When I log out the next time I log in it only gives me the option to sign in with my own account again.

I'm also interested in knowing this. Would be really nice

It's not as simple as Netflix, but I think you can add more users to this 3party YouTube app and switch between them. But not sure.

I have instructed my kids to switch to guest, whenever the use youtube on my Shield box, and when I want to use it, my account is still in the list in settings. https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTubeNext

YT never had this option and probably never will have. The only solution is to switch profiles on Android TV which is I belive impossible right now. Google plans to finally implement this in some upcoming release.
