Check your accessibility settings, 1 of them does that
I think it's because accessibility services are enabled for apps you installed. Disabling them should fix it.
This happened when I had TeamViewer installed. Uninstalling it fixed it for me.
Try intentionally summoning the pop up menu by holding it, then go back and try short pressing again. If the issue still persists, then try restarting your device. If it's still persisting, try removing batteries from the remote or try reconnecting the remote (you should use an external mouse for this one). If these didn't fix the issue and a reset (backup before) doesn't work, you should try letting it get repaired by a repair store.
Like others said, this is because you must have enabled accessibility in your tv settings.
This has been a bug for a long time now and androidtv being a third class citizen for Google, they never fixed it.
I used to keep the accessibility off until i actually had to use the app that needed that accessibility.
Same! On Nvidia Shield
Same issue with VU Premium TV
I have the same issue on my Philips android tv with my Harmony remote. Using the original remote it works fine.
Hi guys,
My Sony KD-55X9500H started acting up a few weeks ago. Previously, if I wanted to open an app I would navigate to said app, press the select button, and it would open instantly. And if I wanted to select other options I could press and hold the select button to prompt a pop-up menu. However, now when I press (not hold) the select button on an app it opens the pop-up menu and I have to select the "Open" option.
I also can't move apps sideways as the interface for moving apps has changed. The UI for the app screen itself keeps changing too. It alternates day to day between a full screen display of my apps and an overlayed app drawer at the side of the screen.
Hadn't updated my TV since day one. I updated the other day in an attempt to fix this so my software is up to date now. A factory reset temporarily returned things to normal but it started playing up again after about 15 minutes.
Sony live chat were useless. I'll try ringing them tomorrow when I have time. For now I'm just wondering if anybody else has been experiencing this and if they know a quick fix. Thanks!
Thanks to everybody for your help! Yes, it turns out it was an accessibility permission as a lot of you said. Disabling the accessibility service did resolve the issues. Pressing on an app now opens it instantly and I can now move apps around again. Super frustrating glitch. Seems like a pretty big oversight on Google's part.
Thats because long press
It's one of your apps, that use accessibility services. Either uninstall that app, or disable accessibility services and it will fix itself.
