You can try use Key Mapper ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.sds100.keymapper ). It allows set sequence of actions and emulate touch event. So you can set on home button returning to home + touch in needed place.
I used button remapper to change my Shield Pro's Netflix so that it opens Plex. You should be able to use it to make any button open any app you like.
