Need help to install a custom launcher on a locked streaming device

by sixfeettwo

So I had this old android tv stick lying around which has this hideous user interface, basically the ISP who made this wanted to push their own content first, I wanted to change the default launcher to something else, preferably the stock one, but any with no ads would do.

I started with just trying to sideload the apk of multiple launchers, all of which did not get installed, then I tried to do it using adblink, but still I am getting an error, and the install fails again. I have attached a screenshot of the error which I am receiving.

I am assuming that the ISP has locked out the installation of any other launcher other than their own. It would be of great help if anyone can help me out to install any other launcher, other than the default one.

It's an Airtel Xstream Stick (not box) if anyone's wondering.
Android Version: 8.0.0

The best thing to do would be to root, but assuming Airtel probably won't allow for that either, I guess you could try cloning the app using App Cloner . IIRC, it can give the clone a new package name, so you would at least be able to install it. Another problem will of course be that the stick will most definitely won't allow you to replace or uninstall the stock launcher altogether either. I doubt normal ADB commands would allow for that, but again, I suppose you could use a button mapper to bypass the home button assignment and work it out.

It will never be great tho.
