BBC iPlayer on Sony TV?

by White_Row92

Hi all,

Is there a way to download the BBC iPlayer app on my Sony Smart TV? I'm sure I had it on here before. I've had a look online but Google is never any good for searching for specific things anymore!

Any help is much appreciated. Cheers in advance,

I have it here on my Sony Bravia, an EU spec XE85 in the UK, from memory I think it's bundled as part of YouView.. here at least.

It's there if you're in the UK, or using a VPN connected to the UK. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bbc.iplayer.android&hl=en&gl=US

i just get "This app is not available for any of your devices" from the EU. The web version of the play store will list the app even if not available unlike the android apps. quite useful when you're looking for something.

google isn't the issue mate :)

Mine is in the “Sony select: Featured” section on the menu - you sure you haven’t removed that from the landing page?

If your Sony runs an Android TV you'll be able to sideload the Android TV version that was recently added back to the play store from here - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/media-applications-technologies-for-the-bbc/bbc-iplayer-android-tv-2/bbc-iplayer-android-tv-2-0-4-5-release/bbc-iplayer-android-tv-0-4-5-android-apk-download/

Installing would depend on you preference, but if your TV has a built in browser, you could just visit the link directly on the TV and install right then and there after enabling installation from "unknown sources"

All the UK apps are available through the sony select app.
