My one complaint: A small speaker on the remote that beeps when I lose it

by sillybandland

WHY ISN'T THERE ONE ?!?!

You know what really grinds my gears?

I have a Google Home and an Android TV. They gave the remote a microphone but no speaker. This is a no-brainer, why no tiny speaker EXCLUSIVELY to emit a loud beep when you tell Google that you lost the remote. Nobody at HQ thought of this?

edit: I am a chronic remote-loser, I will admit that, i'm just annoyed that I have to buy AirTags for a remote when this should have been built in!

The Shield TV remote has this feature.

Shield has one.

There's a 3rd party remote with that feature. The remote's usb dongle that you plug in your tv usb port has a button that cause the remote to beep. Depending on your region, the remote may be called ZYF Z10, WeChip W2 Pro or Q40 Air mouse.

A colorful silicone case might help. 1 our kid kept dropping the Shield remote until I put one on, 2 we kept losing the GoogleTV/CC one in our bedroom until I added on there too. The lost-key fobs are a nifty idea too. Glue it on there somehow and stop worrying about where the F'in remote is THIS time!!!! Just buy the fobs that are physically the smallest and have replaceable batteries.

As the dad of a 2-yo, this is SO NEEDED

I don't understand people who are always losing their remote. I have never lost mine . When I am through using it I just put it down on the coffee table or in my bedroom I put it on my night stand. It's not rocket science.

Attach a Tile to the remote.

Use your phone as a remote. The remote will show up.

Not to stray too far off topic but there’s one thing I’d love - remote lIstening option like the Roku remotes have. LOVED IT!!!

Then the remote should have a connectivity option like bluetooth which has to be always on. This would drain the battery faster.
