I'm having compatibility issues with a new format of 4k files/codecs, please help me find what the issue is

by exodus_cl

I'm having problems with some new file types (or codec?) and I'm not sure what the problem is, I played the same file from my PC and it works perfectly so I'm looking for any help I can get to find the culprit. My best guess is that the file has something new that's not compatible with the chip of the MiBox and the chip of the TV (new codec maybe?) because the TV's native player vía USB gives me the same result.

Hardware: MiBox S and LG Oled B855

Symptoms: the screen starts to flicker and HDR does not activate at all, the same happens when I use the Mibox (Kodi and other payers) and the native player of the TV, but it does not happen when I use the PC (MPC).

I don't have my Mi Box hooked up to an HDR TV any more but your sample worked in HDR on my Shield TV, Fire TV Stick 4K, Sony X950G and CoreELEC box. All using Kodi 19.1.

I don't think the issue is the file, I suspect its either a setup issue or cable issue. First make sure you have HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color enabled on your LG. Then maybe try a new HDMI cable. Lastly check out the following post regarding Mi Box and Kodi settings for HDR.

If MX player with custom codec doesn't play it on mibox, nothing will.
