Which one of these combinations is better: TCL Roku TV with an external Chromecast with Google TV, or TCL Android TV with an external Roku player?

Don't go Roku unless you want endless carriage disputes.

I have a Roku and the new chromecast google tv. Can honestly say the google tv is better and I use it the most.

Get the Roku TV with the CCwGTV. I had tcl Android tv before and it was buggy and slow as hell.

The tv with the features you want and a roku and android tv device connected to it.

the TV with the apps/features you want. little reason to get a dedicated hardware device with either TV off the bat (maybe eventually if things start feeling sluggish or something, you can then buy a hardware device).

Roku does seem to get into carriage disputes with streaming services more than others (HBO Max and Peacock took awhile to get there; YouTube TV isn't available currently unless you already downloaded it), but Roku has an Apple TV app if you use Apple TV+ whereas standard Android TV doesn't ('Google TV' devices like the new Chromecast do have that app, though)
