Hi,
I'm trying to watch disney+ on my Bravia A1 in India. This is hooked up by an optical cable to a Yamaha YSP-3000 soundbar. The splash screen for the programmes show a Dolby 5.1 logo - and the audio options displays two choices, a 5.1 and 2.0. Even with the 5.1 option selected by default, the soundbar receives only a 2.0 PCM output. I've tried changing various settings on the TV but nothing seems to help. Other apps like Netflix, Prime video, and my PS4 all output surround. I'd be grateful for some guidance. Here's some information on software/app versions and such.
Many thanks in advance.
The Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital conversion is a feature present in many Smart TVs BUT in order for this to work, apps must also support it.
That's why the Netflix and Prime Video apps output the conversion to the SPDIF port to your soundbar.
Looks like the Disney+ Hotstar app still doesn't support it and it is something you must request directly to the developers, look for the email in the Play Store page of the app.
