So I have some streams which come through the iview app, as well as I sometimes watch youtube through the mibox. In both cases occasionally the picture will go blank for a split second, yet the audio will continue as normal. I guess this happens once every 3 minutes or so, but it varies. Sometimes its good for much longer, sometimes happens more frequently in shorter space.
I did not have this issue using the mibox on my old tv, and I have also tried on a friends tv and no issue. I've also tried using a different HDMI port of the tv and tried with a different HDMI cable.
Note that I have watched movies on the tv by connecting my laptop and when I do this there is no issue. So I don't believe the issue is simply with the tv, but rather a compatibility / setting between the tv and the mibox. The tv is a samsung.
Does anyone have any idea what I could try to get to the bottom of this? I've tried googling but the only advice I found was about turning off SDR to HDR and HDR to SDR and I did this and still the issue persists. Any advice much appreciated.
My screen res settings on mibox are:
2160p60hz
color depth settings : on
color space settings YCbCr420
You might try changing the MiBox video first to 1080p and if that works, then to 2160p mode with lower refresh rates, to see when the problem pops back up.
Problems with HDMI HDCP handshake can cause the screen to flicker when in 2160p@60hz. If the problem is big or long, then you usually end up getting a text box that show up letting you know that the TV doesn't support 2160p@60hz even though the TV actually does.
Also make sure that the "Auto Switch to recommended resolution from tv" is "off" as well, because this too can cause problems at times, because the MiBox and TV could have a "hiccup" and end up trying to change resolution when there's no need for a resolution change.
If going to 1080p or lower 2160p refresh rates helps, then it could be a problem with the cable or the connections on either end. I usually first try taking the cable and then "reversing" it, this way the contacts in the connectors get "wiped" and that can sometimes help with HDCP issues. Trying another known good cable is also an option. The main thing is that the cable should at a minimum be unplugged and then plugged back in.
Hope this made sense and was helpful.
Best wishes and good luck!
