How do I get rid of Disney+ recommendations on home screen?

I don't have Disney+ on any device, I actively despise Disney as a company and do not want them anywhere near me, and yet my (logged in) TV keeps pushing this crap on me on my home screen.

When I go to my home screen settings Disney+ doesn't show up as a controllable app I can remove (and it's not an app installed on my tv).

Any way to get rid of this atrocity?

Thanks!

I recommend those who don't want ads on the Home screen to write a 1 star review explaining why we dislike this update it so much:

Edited to add the right link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tvlauncher

It’s the latest version of the Home Screen app that does this, you can revert to the previous home app by

go to Settings, head to Apps, and tap “See All Apps.” You’ll then need to show system apps and locate “Android TV Home.” Once you find that application, click on it and locate “Uninstall Updates.”

No more Disney + bullshit, but it’ll be back once that app updates at some point and you’ll have to do the above again

The updated UI is fucking awful, I'm getting huge ads for Disney as well even though I don't have/want it.

In addition to uninstalling updates, I've installed the ATV launcher app along with Button Mapper app. I like the ATV's simple ad-free UI and have mapped my remote's home button to open in straight up.

Hey OP I ran through the same problems as you

Unfortunately you can’t turn off the recommendations but you can block the domain which it uses to fetch its ads. If you block it it gets replaced by generic content like “Explore YouTube” and only shows apps not ads.

Some people seem to use other launcher apps but I’m not a fan of modding my Sony TV that’s already buggy enough.

It’s still useless and ugly, but fuck Disney if they think they can push ads in my living room.

I did it using pi-hole but I assume just blocking the domain could be enough on your network.

Having a connected device while trying to avoid anything Disney seems like an exercise in futility.

They need to give us the option of removing this ad garbage. Jesus fuck. That and the « customize home screen » banner on the lower part of the home menu.

I have a Sony Bravia smart TV which I'm pretty sure runs Google TV and not Android TV. Can anyone help me out with a workaround to get rid of these? I don't have the Android TV Home app installed (I checked). I found the Google TV Home app instead and uninstalled updates on it but all it did was sign me out and reset a bunch of settings back to default and I still have the huge Disney+ ads. So in fact that made things more annoying.

They have been forcing gay ads recently and there was no way of turning it off. I found if I hovered over a different app for a minute that app would be recommended instead so I moved Disney to second in favourites list so it doesn’t sit on the screen.

I just cancelled my subscription because of it & I'm still trying to get rid of these ads

I got the same on my Sony TV. I don't have Disney+ or Google Play Movies so I don't want those ads on my TV.

What's the name of the app that is doing this in the Play Store? I want to give them a 1 start rating and kindly ask them to remove that
