Can 3rd-party launchers implement the "Resume watching" and app-specific tiles?
Looks sad
I recommend those who don't want ads on the Home screen to write a 1 star review explaining why we dislike this update it so much:
Edited to add the right link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tvlauncher
Unpopular Opinion: I actually really enjoy the recommendations. After spending some time improving the results (you can thumbs up or down stuff) it has actually recommended me some awesome stuff. I ended up getting into The Expanse (which I somehow had never heard of).
Also given its recommendations I've ended up "adding" stuff so that I can start doing monthly service jumps. Like drop Netflix for a month in favor of HBO, etc.
People should have choice though, so I'm glad to see that 3rd party launches are still possible.
Tired of ads on your TV? Just start using pi-hole.
I will have to do the same on my Sony TV.. I don't have Disney+ or Google Play Movies so I don't want those ads on my TV.
What's the name of the app that is doing this in the Play Store? I want to give them a 1 start rating and kindly ask them to remove that.
I'm pissed off because I liked the default launcher more than ATV Launcher but I don't want ads on my TV so I'll have to look for alternatives... F**k Google
It was a top bar ad for Discovery+ that was the final straw for me. Not even a particular show, just an ad for the service
How did you make it your default launcher?
Are ads a regional thing? I can't remember seeing one ever on my default launcher. I live in Norway.
Any home launcher options if someone would like recommendations? (On shield, GoogleTV launcher not working, no word from updates)
Something focused on content inside Kodi, Netflix, HBO etc. would be great. App based launcher is probably nice for some but a big hurdle on my use cases.
Is there another android tv launcher that also supports the channels feature the original has?
I love this app, I was on the same boat as you I even adb into my tv and uninstalled the default android launcher lol
Lacking newsmax.
Launchers do lose one nice feature that my Tivo 4k Stream launcher has: "up next." My wife likes being able to select the next episode of a show from the main screen so she doesn't have to remember what's on what service.
This is more basic and Roku-like. Nothing really wrong with that, though.
I prefer Basic Tv launcher

Until yesterday, I've used a Shield on my primary TV and Roku's on 2 others so I wasn't exposed to the new homescreen. I had to replace one of the Roku's so I picked up a Chromecast and almost regret the decision. I can live with the small remote I really don't like, but the new homescreen is a mess, especially on smaller screen TV's. Some of it is useful but the app suggestions and such makes for a bunch of crap in the way that I have no control over. I hope the Shield never uodates to this, but in the meantime I'm going to be forced to do something about the launcher if it's even possible with the Chromecast.
Nice - think I'll do the same!
Hi there. Are you still using ATV Launcher? How's it going? And do you notice any performance gains from just clicking around, launching stuff, etc? Thanks!
Why you don't leave it on Apps tab all the time? You would have the same effect just app icons.
Awesome! I will test this night on my mibox I'm tired of disney plus ads
What are "recommendations" they're supposed to be bringing it to the Shield unfortunately.
I have this on my shield but on my TCL TV I couldn’t set it as default

Rookie Mistake.
I wonder what would have happened if I made this
Same here. No ads with ATV Launcher Pro. Don't forget Button Mapper too.
I didn't buy a TV to see Sony's ads for Disney.
