I could give a shit if they show me an ad as a background and a button I have to click past to be honest. Losing channels sounds like they are fundamentally destroying part of the shield experience.
Related, if I can't re-order the top app row to my liking, and google picks my "favorite apps", I am gonna be pissed.
As long as I am able to replace the default launcher with another launcher of my choice I don't care what they do with their homescreen.
I have both the ccwgtv and the shield. I despise the cc ui.
why? Theres nothing wrong with the UI. Make up next more universal, but it works fine. GTV, is ok, but the ads are too much and App mode is poop compared to the Standard A10 UI.
I have the new Android TV on my Phillips TV and MiBox. It is an improvement and I like it. I see the ad banner more as wallpaper than anything else. It livens up the home screen without taking away the basics of Android TV. If this happens it's going to disappoint/anger the Reddit anti-ad coilition, but progress often has that effect.
Honestly I have the shield and I have CCwGTV and I welcome the new interface to the shield. The ads never feel invasive and they actually do a good job recommending content that matches the type of stuff you watch.
I'll be fine with a new interface. The current one is old and tired looking.
Have anyone figured out how to get the new UI on the shield? Sideloading the apk does nothing.

I'm pretty pumped to see this new UI on a powerful device. I don't mind it at all on my CCwGTV but it's just kind of slow and stuttery.
I’d be totally fine with the new top bar if it only showed content from services which I have installed. For example it shouldn’t show me content from a service I’m not paying for. It’s stupid that they do it how they are.
