Trying to factory reset my android tV

by VoxPopuliCry

So I have this Sony TV and wanted to reset it. This is because I am unable to use some buttons (remote is fine, and input is received but the TV doesn't respond for stuff like Sync Menu) and features including Chromecasting to the TV.

I read guides online and tried to reset via the below methods:

  • Using settings>reset: The "reset" menu doesn't open and the settings app closes
  • Using the "Help" button to navigate to the reset menu: Help button doesn't respond
  • Powering on while pressing the power button on the TV: Doesn't enter the erase mode
  • Powering on while pressing the power + volume down buttons on the TV: Doesn't enter the erase mode

Here is an image of the buttons at the back of my TV.

Any clues how can I reset the thing? Don't want to spend for repairs just yet until I am unable to figure out the issue myself.

Is there a way to enter the recovery (like on Android phones) where I can select "factory data erase"?

Also is there a way to reset it via some sort of USB-based executable?

Thanks

Same tv..same exact problem. I don't have a remote either so I don't know what to do. Any chance you figured it out?

If your remote is to blame for your problem then connect a usb mouse (and keyboard) to the tv. It's Android TV so that should work. You'll get a mouse pointer to go to Settings/Reset.

Your tv probably also has an Android app of your brand to use your phone as a remote.
