TV Tuner for Chromecast with google home

by tylerderped

I have a TV with Chromecast with Google Home, and I LOVE it, but I want more.

Are there any good TV tuners (preferably ones that aren't $50+) I can connect to it? Will it recognize that I've hooked up an antenna or would I need a separate app? What's a good app?

My goal is to have it hooked up to a USB hub with external storage along with a TV tuner. I want to be able to record OTA TV onto my external storage as well as store apps on there. I also want a nice guide UI.

Is this feasible? Can it be done for less than $100? Or should I look into some other device?

Thanks!

If you can expand your budget a bit, or get a used one maybe, a HDHomerun tuner is the best way to go. It's a network tuner and you can use the Google Live Channels app to watch and record TV for free or you can use the HDHomerun app (DVR is $35 a year) or other paid apps like Channels. But Live Channels is totally free.

If you are in an area that Locast serves - that could be a great solution.

Tablo maybe, if you have a hard drive available. I've only used an older version, but I like it quite a bit.
